TMJ stands for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder which is a condition caused by inflammation of the joint that connects the jaw to the skull. Treatments that Dr. Hoekzema can administer are:

• Occlusal Adjustment: This procedure makes corrections to the bite associated with loose, shifting teeth or teeth that are biting too hard. Balancing and evenly distributing the biting and chewing forces on a tooth reduces the looseness and relieves excessive pressures on the supporting gum and bone structures.

• Night Guards:  A mouthpiece is fitted to the patient to prevent clamping and grinding that cause TMJ pain.
